The most Mexican night.

Mexico is celebrated every day, wherever we are and however we choose.

As soon as September arrives, we’re all ready to pull out our flags and sombreros because we know the most Mexican night of the year is just around the corner. At Barrio México, as our name suggests, we are proud of our beautiful and beloved Mexico.

Our country is celebrated every day, wherever we are and however we choose, accompanied by our most authentic drinks, like tequila or a little mezcal, and the delicious traditional food that represents us so well. Wherever we go in the world, we will always find something that makes us remember and feel close to home.

And what about celebrating by singing to the rhythm of mariachi with family and friends, surrounded by the love and affection that we Mexicans tend to share during our celebrations? Let’s remember that September is the patriotic month, and Mexico paints itself in colors to celebrate.

Here are some recommendations for places to go if you want to celebrate to the rhythm of folklore and shout the Grito de Independencia live and at the top of your lungs.

                                                                 LA GLORIETA CHAPALITA.

With a festive and very family-friendly atmosphere, this is a traditional meeting point to celebrate September 15th in the city. The event takes place at the main roundabout in the Chapalita neighborhood, where all the neighbors prepare and organize well in advance for this great festivity.

You’ll find patriotic decorations adorning the night. The surrounding restaurants and cafes usually have promotions with special menus for the celebration. You can enjoy folk dances and musical shows with mariachi, try all the snacks you find, enjoy the fireworks, and experience the incredible family atmosphere.

Another great plan is to celebrate this big night at one of the most traditional Mexican restaurants in the city. Keep in mind that they have several locations in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area; the one we recommend is located in the center of Tlaquepaque, but you can look up which one is closest to you and head over.

This is where the Mexican Night you’ve been waiting for will happen, with live music, mariachi, promotions on good tequila, and delicious Mexican dishes like Chiles en Nogada, which are exclusive to this patriotic season.

There will be carnival games for the little ones and the not-so-little ones, folk dances, and much more to celebrate this day in style with friends. We recommend checking their social media in advance so you can reserve your spot and get more information about costs and hours.

                                                             THE HISTORIC CENTER.

This celebration is a favorite for many, as you can really feel the excitement of the patriotic day and the pride of being Mexican when sharing it with thousands of people in one place, like the beautiful Historic Center of Guadalajara.

The Grito usually takes place on the night of September 15th at the Plaza de Armas at 10:00 PM, serving as the gathering point for local families. This event is public and free for all ages, where you can enjoy fireworks, musical groups, Mexican snacks, and folk dances.

The big celebration begins at 6:00 PM, culminating with the Grito, which is led by the Governor of Jalisco. With the ringing of bells and the waving of flags, the most Mexican night of the year concludes with the Grito de Independencia.

                                                                                      How do you celebrate Mexico?

                                                                                                         See you soon, ciao!
