Not sure what to plan for the holidays?

Staying in the city for spring break?

While social media fills up with photos of beaches and airports, don't worry if you're staying in the city for spring break—it doesn't mean your time off has to be boring. Sometimes, staying put is the best excuse to rediscover your city and see it through the eyes of a tourist, since we usually take it for granted.

There are plenty of ways to get a good tan, even if it takes a little more effort in the city, but we won't be short on attitude or plans. We can see these next few days as an opportunity to reconnect with our surroundings, especially since the city is much emptier, without all the usual traffic and crowds.

Guadalajara is a city full of possibilities. You don't always need to leave town to create great memories; sometimes what we need most is right here in the tranquility of our own streets. Take a walk, stroll through places you usually rush past without stopping to admire, discover new flavors or guilty pleasures, and explore the corners of this city you haven't fully uncovered yet.

The best part this year is that you won't have to pack, since everything we recommend in this guide is right here in the city.

1.- A hike through the Barranca de Huentitán.

Plan to arrive very early to beat the sun—your skin will thank you. Bring the essentials: water, plenty of sunscreen, a hat, and appropriate clothing. Enjoy the views the canyon offers during your hike, but above all, enjoy the connection with nature and the disconnection from all the city's noise and chaos. Focus on yourself and being present throughout the day.

2.- Bike route: time to pedal.

Let's take advantage of the lighter traffic in the city these days. Map out a bike route through the places you've always wanted to visit. You could check out the Barragán houses (take a look at one of our past blogs for options), visit some cafes to enjoy a nice breakfast, or even take a tour of the Historic Center to see the city's iconic spots.

3.- Stay at Barrio México.

All you have to do is visit our website, choose the house you like best, and make your reservation. You can pick one of our options with a pool to soak up the sun and spend the afternoon with some drinks, whether you're with friends, solo, or with a partner. You can also book a relaxing massage in advance for your stay. Check out our blog for various recommendations on places to see, eat, or explore around the Colonia Americana.

4.- A tourist day in Tlaquepaque.

We know it's one of the most touristy activities when visiting Guadalajara, but what better way to enjoy your city than like a true tourist? Listen to mariachi, eat traditional Mexican food accompanied by a *cazuelita* with some good tequila, walk the aisles of this "pueblo mágico" while admiring the crafts, and browse its beautiful art galleries. Don't forget to end the day with a delicious *nieve de garrafa*.

5.- A day full of pure art.

Vacations are for visiting all those places you want to see but never have time for due to the daily grind. Now is the time to put together your own route of museums and galleries that interest you. We just recommend checking their hours during the holiday week to avoid any surprises. Here are a few you can add to your list.

·     MAZ

· Instituto Cultural Cabañas

· MUSA

·     Páramo Gallery.

·     MURA
