A recap of May in Guadalajara.

Summer is just around the corner.

May made it clear why Guadalajara is a city that always finds a way to surprise you. Throughout the month, its streets, venues, galleries, and cultural spaces were filled with music, art, food, and experiences that marked the perfect start to the busiest season of the year. With summer drawing closer, the city spent weeks where there was always something going on: from concerts and festivals to exhibitions, markets, special performances, and outdoor plans that gave every weekend its own story.

Between historic theaters, gardens turned into stages, vibrant cultural spaces, and getaways around the city, May has treated us to some of the most popular events of the season.

Here is a recap of several moments and experiences that took place this month in Guadalajara.

MAY CULTURAL FESTIVAL. ‍

‍May 7th to 29th

One of the most important cultural events in the state returns this month with a program that brings together artists from different countries, stage performances, music, dance, and exhibitions throughout the city. The 2026 May Cultural Festival transforms iconic venues like the Teatro Degollado and various cultural spaces into international stages.

Among the most anticipated shows is Duck Pond, a contemporary circus reinterpretation of the classic ballet inspired by Swan Lake, presented by the Australian company Circa. A blend of acrobatics, humor, and contemporary dance that promises to be one of the highlights of the month.
