Ready, set, soak up the sun!

Spring is coming back into our lives.

As we all know, the high temperatures have started to return to the city over the last few days, and that means only one thing: spring is coming back into our lives.

Don't you love seeing the golden shower trees blooming all over the streets of Guadalajara again, informally known as "the yellow trees"? You have to admit, they add a touch of joy and so much color to our beautiful city.

The month of March always comes packed with pure positive energy. It’s the change of seasons, saying goodbye to winter and welcoming spring, flowers, the heat, Sundays outdoors, swimming pools, refreshing drinks, and unpacking all those summer clothes we had tucked away in the back of the closet.

At Barrio México, we are more than ready to welcome the happiness that the arrival of spring brings. That’s why we want to share some activities you can enjoy with your partner, friends, or family this season.

·Vía RecreActiva by bike.

This is one of our favorite plans, as Guadalajara's weather is spectacular for a bike ride. Don't forget to bring plenty of sunscreen, water, and a hat for the sun.

Every Sunday, several major avenues in the city are closed to traffic. You can ride your own bike or rent one at any of the stations near you at @mibicipublica. You can also rent one at Parque Metropolitano by the hour and enjoy this activity, alone or with company.

The routes offered are quite safe, as the roads are closed to cars throughout the morning and all paths are clearly marked. At every intersection or kilometer, you will find information points with Vía RecreActiva support staff.

You can enjoy this plan not only on your bike, but also by walking, bringing your dog, rollerblading, skateboarding, or going for a run to get some exercise.

·Outdoor cinema.

If you're a movie buff and love cinema, grab a blanket, some snacks, and your favorite drink, because you won't want to miss this!

Yes, we think so too—it’s a fantastic plan to enjoy with your partner or friends, and the best part is that it’s completely free! You can check the weekly schedule at @cinemaliveguadalajara and experience this activity in different parks around the city, such as Metropolitano, Parque Montenegro, or Alcalde.

We recommend checking the showtimes, as they can be on weekdays or weekends. Above all, keep an eye on their social media, as their schedule may change depending on weather conditions.

·Brunch is our passion.

That's right! We all know that one of the things we enjoy most in Barrio México is eating, and it's even better when there are places with a delicious menu and a pleasant outdoor space to enjoy your visit, such as Biolento. ‍

Its tree-covered patio creates the perfect atmosphere for a brunch day, and if we may make a recommendation, you will love their chilaquiles with chicharrón or huitlacoche. How about some infladitas stuffed with different fillings or some delicious fried quesadillas?

You can pair your visit with their spectacular coffee in all its forms, whether it's an espresso, macchiato, latte, cappuccino, carajillo, etc. Take advantage of your visit to check out some of the art exhibitions they have inside; your experience here is sure to be so complete that you'll be looking forward to coming back before you've even left.

·Hiking in the Barranca de Huentitán.

If you like challenges and outdoor activities, this is the perfect plan for you. This canyon located on the outskirts of the city is one of the most visited by locals, as it has several trails to explore.

For all the thrill-seekers and sports lovers, this place is perfect. Your hike will be challenging, but once you reach your destination, the views will be breathtaking. Believe me, all your effort will have been worth it once you're there.

You can enjoy the suspension bridge that crosses the canyon and take the opportunity to snap a souvenir photo right there. My recommendation is to go in a group and with professionals so you know the safe routes for the climb. It's best to start your visit very early to beat the sun and avoid overheating.

·Staying in Barrio México.

When staying in one of our houses, you can enjoy the benefit of choosing one with a pool to have a good time and cool off from the heat, such as Casa Kali, Casa Blanco, or Casa Morelos.

And what about their terraces or outdoor patios for sunbathing, taking in the city view, or simply enjoying your morning coffee while reading a good book?

All our houses are in an excellent location in the city. Both Colonia Americana and Colonia Chapalita are among the best neighborhoods to visit in Guadalajara, as they are surrounded by museums, restaurants, cafes, designer shops, bars, bookstores, and more.

Let us know what you thought of these outdoor recommendations in Guadalajara, and what others you would add to the list to enjoy the warm weather and experience spring the way it should be.

Talk to you soon, ciao!
